Getting the most out of your candle requires a few important, but simple steps.
The First Burn.
The FIRST BURN is crucial in setting the path for how your candle will burn each relight.
Make sure your Wood Wick is no longer than 1/8” to 1/4” long before lighting.
Allow a full melt pool on your first burn, to avoid tunneling. A “full melt pool” means; allow the top layer of your wax to melt to the edges of your candle. Why does this matter? Wax has burn memory, and will only burn to the edge it previously burned to. So, Tunneling is, when your candle only burns down the middle of your jar leaving wax along the ring of your jar.
Do not allow your candle to burn for MORE than 3-4 hours at a time.
Relighting.
ALWAYS TRIM THE CHARRED PART OFF YOUR WICK BEFORE EACH RELIGHT.
When lighting a wood wick, you’ll need to hold the flame to the wick longer than you would with a cotton wick, to allow the entire wick to catch the flame. The wick is fueled by the wax, so holding the flame allowing it to touch the wax may help add fuel to the wick. When the wick catches, it will crackle and get settled in, then become a calmer flame.
